If you are planning a painting break with a few fellow artists and like the sound of what we are offering, perhaps you might like to consider a private painting holiday.
As well as being able to arrange dates to suit, we would be happy to discuss your requirements in terms of subject matter, techniques and studio venue.
With Moor to Sea Arts you can expect a high standard of tuition in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If your preference is for an intense period of tuition we can provide a structured workshop or course, the content of which is decided upon after discussing your requirements and ability. Some folk would prefer a more relaxed approach, incorporating watercolour and tuition into their leisure time, or as part of a holiday. While the standard of tuition would remain as high the approach can be much more informal.
We have a strong belief that the best paintings appear when the artist is enthused by the subject matter. Limits on choice of subject matter will be imposed by tide, time, weather and practicalities, not by pedantic tutors!
A typical workshop begins with an informal "Meet & Greet" over coffee, when we talk to the students about their hopes for the day and look at their work. A typical day may include demonstrations, an informal talk on the technical focus of the day and relevant exercises. If weather, tides and student interests permit we may include excursions. Whichever watercolour techniques have been chosen we do not study these in isolation, but make constant references to other technical elements of painting and how they work together in the context of a painting. All our workshops are designed to be very flexible, and, as far as possible working within the constraints of a group, we will try to adapt the workshops to individual wishes.
If you would like to come to Ivybridge you could take advantage of our local knowledge of beauty spots, beaches and taverns in planning excursions. The area is particularly well suited to rural landscapes, including moorland, rivers, coastal and beach scenes, seascapes, skies and the flora and fauna of the famous Devon hedges. We have plenty of inspirational ideas for you, but if you would like to bring your own reference material to work from, that's OK too.
We are able to book Lukesland Gardens (subject to availability). We will consider alternatives depending upon the practicalities of the available ‘studio' space; for example, some holiday cottages have wonderful kitchens. We are happy to help you find accommodation locally. We are also happy to explore an alternative location, and would be prepared to discuss us travelling to you. Costs will vary according to your requirements. There is a minimum tuition fee of £ 160 per tutor per day up to a maximum of 8 students per tutor. Additional costs would be incurred where applicable e.g. materials, studio rent, lunch and refreshments, travel expenses, accommodation.
If this idea appeals to you, the best thing to do would be to telephone so that we can discuss the feasibility and precise costs of what you have in mind. Speak to either Rob or Siânon 01752 895588.
