Bluebell Woods

We’ve been busy during lockdown adding content to our website that we hope you will find inspiring. The latest addition is a step-by-step of this painting of a bluebell woods, which I thought would be a good place to start.

We have had some fabulous walks with our dog though bluebell woods in the last few weeks. One silver lining of lockdown is that we have discovered beautiful local walks that we hadn’t found in 25 years of living here. For people who walk a lot it was something of a surprise, and a delight! Rob and I were amazed last week to find a carpet of bluebells in the wood in Ivybridge, in an area that I usually avoid at this time of year because the access to it can be very muddy ( boots sucked off, 3 hours bathing dog type muddy). There are some wonderful old trees there, with fabulous trunks and branches. the sun through freshly opened leaves and the perfume from the bluebells…the place just oozed inspiration!

The painting featured in this step-by-step is an excerpt from our book ‘Painting Trees’, but I’m sure there will be bluebell painting in the not too distant future!
