Class Members Week 5

 week 5 : free painting

8th & 9th November

Tutor: Siân

WAHT TO BRING

Please come along this week with your ideas of what you would like to be painting. If you have a painting on the go, please remember your reference materials! I will be checking that you have used thumbnails in your planning :)

Note to beginners : we will be continuing with basics, looking at colour at how to understand the connection between colour and tone.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE WEDNESDAY GROUP : we advise you not to park under trees outside St’ John’s Church. As we left last week we noticed a car with a smashed windscreen, and some damage to the bodywork. Rob found branches matching the tree above it on the road right next to the car. It seems a fair assumption, given the windy weather, that a branch had fallen from the tree above it. The vicar tells us that they recently had the trees inspected, but will be doing so again!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

This weeks thoughts were a discussion around the above book!

TIP

Be aware of how the placement of lights and darks in an image can alter the way the eye moves around the picture. In the gallery below the same line drawing was used (using tracing). Tone was then applied in different places on each drawing. As you look at each, note where you eye first ‘enters’ the drawing, and how it moves around from that point.
