ART TIP

Art-Tip-Stems-and-Leaves.jpg

I've been writing a step-by-step article for the Artists and Illustrators magazine this week. If all goes according to the editor's plan it will be published in the May issue.

It involved a clump of flowers ( no spoiler's here, you'll have to wait!). By the time I'd finished drawing it up I was cross eyed. Which was a leaf, where were the stems? So I cheated. Here's the cheat. The pencil marks can be rubbed out after you've put some colour on to identify what's what. Note I only write on the image if necessary; most of these are below the line for the bottom of the picture. That saves rubbing out, which means less chance of damaging the paper surface.

It works for trees in a wood too!

If you think you can guess what I painted , leave a comment below :)
