what to bring
Enthusiasm for a new term! Oh, and your usual painting materials.
THIS Week:
Introduction to the theme for this term, and discussing your plans for your own projects.
What is this? How might you use it with watercolour?
Please could you take a few moments this week to check that we have the correct contact information for you. It is useful that we have telephone number as well as an email address in case of last minute issues.
‘homework’ challenge
Have a good rummage through your stash of art materials and pick out anything you think might be useful for using with watercolour. Check out any media you have and make sure they are still viable ; masking fluid is notorious for setting itself in the bottle!
Quote of the week
“I am always doing what I cannot do yet in order to learn how to do it.”
Vincent van Gogh
SOME OF YOU TRIED THIS…
Two techniques achieved the effects seen here. The first was the rather obvious ‘cauliflower’ , made by dropping water on to the partly dried paint as just the right moment. The smaller, spikier marks were made by dropping table salt on to the wet paint.
This term we will be watching out in class for the techniques that you use, in particular those that are slightly more unusual.
We will take a quick photo or two of the work-in-progress, add a few words about the techniques and post it here. The idea is that we might cover even more techniques than we will in the tutor led sessions.
If you are about to try something in class that you think might be useful for this section, please get our attention!
