what to bring
Your usual painting materials, your current project. Make sure you have any questions ready for advice on any art you might wish to do during the Easter break. Also, egg shaped chocolate.
THIS Week:
End of term! Completing your current projects and preparing for the art you will be doing during the Easter break.
COlour of the Week
Brown
The colour you actually get if you mix all your paints together, which is not the black you would expect if you were following colour theory.
Brown if often called ‘neutral’, which Siân thinks is utterly ridiculous. It’s a colour, it’s not neutral, don’t let the fashionistas fool you.
Rob sometimes calls it ‘warm grey’, as he was taught at art college, but we all know he’s got problems with his colour vision ( there is NO green in the sky!). It also gives us all an excellent reason to be glad we didn’t go to art collage.
So, hopefully at the end of a term where our focus was colour, you have learned that colour theory is nothing more than a guide. It is a best a guide, and at worst downright misleading. So, if nothing else, take away the thought that the best thing you can do is
GET TO KNOW THE PAINTS YOU HAVE.

Quote of the week”
“ I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns.’
Winston Churchill.
