The first Tutor Led session of the term. Rob will lead you through a series of drawing exercises.

KINGSBRIDGE CLASSES - we are in the first floor studio today, directly below the Art Studio ( level with the cafe)

‘homework’ challenge

Start collecting scraps of paper, old envelopes, and making sure you have a drawing implement handy. Anything that will make a mark will do…biro, pencil, lipstick… Yes, we know this is the same as last week, we want it to be a habit :)

AND the challenge Rob will give out in class!

Quote of the week

“Art is supposed to make life better. This is as true for the making of art as it its for the art itself.”

Austin Kleon ‘Keep Going p126’

Your paintings

Thank you Chris Hall ( Wednesday class) for sending in this painting.

This was the first painting I ever did that I felt confident to display. It started out as a copy of a photo (featuring a vast landscape) in a newspaper, at that time other peoples photos was my sole source of inspiration. Whilst painting in class Rob walked by and stopped to see what I was about, and asked me what inspired me to paint the image. I remember waxing lyrical about the tree shape, back-ground colour, mist and reflections. Rob then asked why I was not painting what had inspired me. After much discussion and thumb sketching the outline of this painting emerged. It was without doubt the moment that changed me approach to painting - THANK YOU ROB!

Please end us in anything you have drawn painting that you enjoyed doing, with a few words about why you enjoyed doing it or how it helped you to feel more confident . Remember, it does not even have to be finished.
