THIS Week:

‘HOW DID THEY DO THAT?’

This tutor led session will take a good look at mark-making using anything other than brushes!

The number of ways watercolour can be laid on paper is infinite, and despite our extensive knowledge of watercolour there is absolutely no way we can know them all! So this Tutor Led session will be slightly different to the usual sessions, in that we would like you all to come ready to share! Rob will lead the session demonstrating techniques but also encouraging you to show others how you achieve certain effects (don’t worry, this will not be compulsory).

WHAT TO BRING

• ANYTHING that you think might be used to make an interesting mark with watercolour paint!

• Watercolour paints and palette.

• A few brushes. These will be used with other materials to apply paint, but not for the marks you can make with the brush itself.

• Plenty of watercolour paper (not stretched)

• ‘Old’ paintings, to practise layering techniques on

• Pencils to make notes next to swatches, noting how you made the marks and how it might be used in the context of a painting.

• Books, articles or short vidoes that show a technique that you have either tried, or would like to try.

• An open mind!
