Study this image closely

Copy this image as accurately as possible.

Consider what you feel you might learn from this image. Consider tone, mark-making (texture) and colour. Which would be most useful to you to help you improve your skill set. You may choose to focus on just one of these, or all of them. You may use any medium. The objective is to study the image in great detail though copying.

Take care to pay particular attention to:

• Tone. If you are making an accurate tonal study are you going to choose pencil or paint?

• The marks used. How was the paint laid paid down? Which brush, hand movements etc..

• Layers. have layers been used. Which went down first? Which marks were added on top of previous marks.

• If using colour, can you match the colours you are seeing accurately?

• Can you tell if colours were mixed in the palette or wet-in-wet on the page?
