book of the week

The book this week is one of my ’Charity shop bargains’. It’s ‘How to create light in your paintings; The artist’s guide to using tone effectively’ by Tony Paul. Bit of a mouthful, but well worth the few pounds I paid for it. Like many off the books I’ve chosen this term it’s a book full of nuggets of painterly wisdom. Some really interesting and clear explanations of, for. example ‘High key paintings’, ‘Low key paintings’ and ‘Close-toned subjects’.
